Jamie also ran into the attic of the old Myers house where she found the corpses of Rachel Carruthers and the family dog, Max. The house was later sold to Morgan's brother, John Strode, who moved his family in by 1995. The house was originally built in the 1890s and it was bought by Peter Myers and Edith Myers in 1945, not long after they got married. They took great pride in the house and great care with the upkeep of owning a house. Initially, they intended to have only one child and thought that Haddonfield would be a wonderful place to raise a child.

Morgan Strode of Strode Realty attempted to sell the estate, but was unable due to its bizarre history. However, their hopes of having a happy and healthy family came to a sudden and tragic end. At the age of six, Michael was developing severe psychological problems that consumed a lot of his parents' time and put a great strain on the family as a whole.

It's October in Haddonfield, also known as South Pasadena, the home of ‘Halloween'

The exception was in late October 2002 when Frederick Harris and Nora Winston sent a letter to Strode Realty and the Haddonfield City Council requesting the use of the property "as is" for their live-Internet Dangertainment show. Pamela Strode and the Council came to an agreement only if Mr. Harris and Miss Winston agreed to be responsible for any significant damages made to the property on their watch. After an agreement was made, Pamela allowed full access to the property because she believed in Mr. Harris' intentions about bringing media attention with the World Wide Web about the former Myers residence. The house was inhabited by the Myers family from the Spring of 1963 until the Summer of 1965.

The History Of The Halloween Movie House

After Michael's killing spree, Pete McCabe and a young Frank Hawkins found a distraught Lonnie Elam outside of the Myers house. Pete and Frank investigated the home, leading to Michael Myers attacking McCabe in Judith's bedroom. After Frank accidentally killed Pete, Michael left the home only to be stopped just on the porch by Dr. Loomis and thirteen policemen. The house was seen again in the film with a blue and red coat of paint, with couple Big John and Little John living in it until their deaths on October 31st, 2018. Lonnie, his son Cameron, and Allyson Nelson went to the house, leading to Lonnie and Cameron's murders by Michael.

Then they whitewashed the exterior, rather than paint it in fresh white paint, to make it look like it still needed a coat of paint. During the four years between Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, the Myers house was demolished, which led to an injured and weak Michael living in the sewers of Haddonfield as he hid from the angry town. The house had gained a reputation for being a haunted house, where people began believing the house had something to do with Michael developing his bloodlust.

However, in 1978, at the time of filming Halloween, it was a hardware store. After the incident, Michael was sent away to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, where he remained for 15 years before escaping and returning to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. While the movie was set in Haddonfield, Illinois, it wasn’t filmed there. When John Carpenter's "Halloween" debuted in 1978, it changed horror movies forever. The story of straight-laced teenager Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) being forced to take on escaped serial killer Michael Myers (Nick Castle and Tony Moran) on the spookiest night of the year popularized the slasher genre in a whole new way. It even sparked plenty of tropes within the sub-genre itself, such as the inclusion of eerie synth scores and having a masked murderer be a movie's ultimate big bad.

Interestingly enough, the new location means that the house is right across the street from Nichol’s Hardware store, where Laurie and Anne hang out in the movie. That’s where the original Halloween movie was filmed, and where the infamous home of the Myers family can be found — more precisely, at 1000 Mission Street. If you like the Halloween movie house, check out the Paranormal Activity house and the A Nightmare On Elm Street house, two other iconic horror movie houses. The Doyle house, where Laurie ends up in a grueling battle with Micahel Myers at the end of the movie, was built in 1920.

Although, visiting fans can also catch a glimpse of another Halloween landmark in the immediate area. When the house was moved from its original location, it was relocated directly across the street from Nichol's Hardware store, where Laurie and Anne (Nancy Loomis) were rocking the BOC and smoking pot in the classic film. Although the now famous Myers House is not quite your typical tourist destination, it is frequently visited by dedicated fans from all over the world.

When Michael's parents come home and pull a clown mask off his face, it foreshadows the masked killer he will continue to be in adulthood. Fifteen years later, Michael's fate becomes intertwined with Laurie's when she visits the house, which her father is trying to sell, and he begins stalking her. The original location of the house was 707 Meridian Avenue, right down the block from the current address, during the filming of Halloween. Due to the extremely low budget allocated to the film, director John Carpenter actually shot the exteriors and interiors at the house, making it one helluva a movie location gem for fans.

She also noticed that he kept watching her and would tear out pages in her diary as well as draw horrible pictures within it. But no matter what Judith said or did, she was always blamed by their parents since she was the older sister and should know better. Other times her concerns were pushed aside as just being those of an immature teenager and not taken seriously.

Fellow HALLOWEEN fans from all over the U.S. and internationally have traveled to see the NC Spookhouse over the years. If you're interested in visiting The Myers House NC, please check out the VISIT section for details. The Myers House is most famous for being the location of one of the most horrific acts of parricide and sororicide in Illinois and American history. Seventeen-year-old Judith Margaret Myers was brutally stabbed with a kitchen knife in the stomach and above her breasts.

When he went by the demolition site and saw the house about to be demolished, Dave impulsively asked the bulldozer driver to stop just as he was giving the walls of the rickety old house the first push. After saving the house from immediate danger, he went to owner Dr. Joseph Kohn's office and offered him a silver dollar for the home. Dr. Kohn accepted the deal along with Dave's promise to move the house within one week. Unfortunately, he had no property on which to put the house, so in a brash move one night he paid movers to transport the old structure onto some nearby railroad property.

She sent Michael out trick or treating and while he was doing that she got herself ready for her boyfriend, Dan. However, Michael eventually returned home and when the doorbell rang and Judith went to greet her boyfriend, Michael slipped out the back door and hid behind some bushes where he began watching Judith's every move. The two teenagers made out in the living room while, unbeknownst to them, Michael watched through a window. Dan at one point asked Judith if they were alone and she replied that Michael was around some place.

Anyone who has seen the original Halloween movie will know that Michael Myers killed his first victim at this house. Stabbing to death his sister Judith in the bathroom on Halloween night when he was just six years old. The house remained abandoned until Halloween 1989, when Dr. Samuel Loomis used Jamie Lloyd in an attempt to lure Michael Myers into a trap that he set up within the Myers house.

Without intervention, the house would have been destroyed as it was set to be bulldozed in 1987 to make way for a hospital. Fortunately, it was salvaged and moved from its original location at 709 Meridian Avenue to its current residence on Mission St.  Owner David Margrave saved the house from imminent destruction on a whim. Dave recalled that there were six houses side by side on Meridian Avenue, and during the course of about a 3-week period there were houses removed each day one at a time.

Next door, there's also the SugarMynt Gallery, an attraction that pays homage to the Halloween franchise. "The house has been moved in recent years, and now stands near a railway line."
